Weekend Sneaker Shopping on Long Island

Coming fresh off our sneaker high at Sneaker Con the week before, we couldn’t go through a beautiful Memorial Day weekend without feasting our eyes on some more kicks. Being in the New York area, we decided to venture out East to see the kind of heat Long Island has to offer. Although the list of spots is not as extensive as any that one can experience in the Manhattan, it was certainly still worth the trek. Check out the pictures we took on our shopping trip.

We regret that we didn’t get a chance to check out Sneaker Bistro out in Patchogue but that certainly was next on our list. Hopefully we’ll make it out there for the the Nike Air Force 1 ‘Jones Beach’ Release Event.

List of shops and addresses are below as well, enjoy.

1. Sneaker Station – 156-30 Northern Blvd, Flushing, NY 11354 | Map

Prior to actually heading out to Long Island, we stopped by a jewel of a spot in Flushing, Queens. Sneaker Station on Northern Blvd carries all the releases of latest Jordans, Air Max and other basketball heat. The last time I was here I picked up a pair of Piston VI’s a week ahead of its release, been checking back ever since.

2. Sneakerology / Exit 36 – 2100 Northern Blvd., Manhasset NY 11030 Americana Manhasset Mall | Map

Tucked away in the slightly larger sneaker shop that shares its retail space, Exit 36 is another rare find on Long Island. While the name on the front door says Sneakerology, you will notice several feet into the store that to the left is a sneaker sweet spot named Exit 36. While Sneakerology caters to the more general audience, Exit 36 is where sneaker heads would find the kicks that is more fitting for their taste. They carry a decent line of Jordans, Af1, Dunks, and Air Maxes, along with several street wear and skateboarding brands. I remember being able to pick up a pair of Anniversary XI there, even days after its release, without a problem. Don’t let this one sit for too long though, the word is getting out, Exits 36’s got the goods!

3. Street Gear NYC – 245 Fulton Avenue Hempstead, NY 11550 | Map

After Exit 36, we headed toward Hempstead to Street Gear NYC. Though not technically in NYC, the stock they had was as impressive as some of its peers out in the city. As soon as you walk in you will notice a clear case to the right that’s devoted to the latest releases. Heading further in you will see a floor to ceiling display of sneakers all along the left wall. They also had a nice collection of fitted’s on the opposite side. Street Gear NYC is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

4. Extra Butter – 266 Merrick Road Rockville Centre, NY 11570 | Map

We continued South on our journey to one of my personal favorites, Extra Butter. That place never fails to impress me with their awesome collection of kicks and tees. After chatting a bit with the guys there they let me in on the fact that they just got in a small restock of Anniversary XI’s! There was no way I could’ve turned that down, so I picked up an extra pair, at retail!

5. Westbury Sneakers – 621 Old Country Road Westbury, NY 11590-4511 | Map

Not far from Century 21 out in Westbury, I found this little shop across the Checkers that I was eating lunch at one time. I saw the name on the sign and couldn’t help but to check it out. Westbury Sneakers is a very local sneaker joint that carries most of the releases sneaker heads are after. Again, being a local shop, hot releases always have a potential of sitting on the shelves way past its drop date. I remember the last time I was there, they still had Eggplant and Copper Foamposites available. They were selling at a slight mark-up but definitely still better than any price you will find on the web.

6. Sneakers & Jeans – 146 Newbridge Road   Hicksville, NY 11801 | Map

Our final stop of the afternoon was Sneakers & Jeans in Hicksville, NY. Once you walk into this corner shop, you are immediately drawn to the display of some of the rarest Jordans around. They had an assortment of OG’s and Retros that was simply breathtaking. R.C. and I was shocked to see some of the heat they had available. Within minutes we picked out several pairs that we wanted to see. However, much to our dismay, all of them were for display purposes only! I must admit it was rather disappointing. We were a bit discouraged but nevertheless, they still had a very nice assortment of kicks that were very impressive, along with a nice number of AF1’s. R.C. left wondering how much we would’ve spent there if those OG’s were actually for sale. I guess we will never know.
